A cleaner future

Or at least thats what the president and transportation secretary Ray Lahood are hoping for. Today the Obama administration unveiled new gas mileage standards for the automobile industry.Transportation secretary Ray Lahood said that this is the most aggressive fuel economy standard ever set in the United States. By 2016, the average fuel economy for cars is estimated to be 37.8 mpg, while light trucks are expected to average 28.8 mpg with automakers getting credits for building hybrids and electric cars. The 2016 date is actually 4 years ahead of the goals set by the Bush administration in 2007. Shockingly enough automakers are on board with the new fuel efficiency standards and thats a great thing to see because in the long run this actually does reduce our dependence on foreign oil and it will cut down on pollution. Of course you cant prove that to Bob Bennett of Utah. You can watch Bob Bennett's insanity by clicking on the picture below.
